You are a young European citizen who cares about our future in Europe? The political and economic events of the last years have had an impact on your personal life? You are willing to actively shape the discussion? You dare to step up in front of an audience of approximately 400 people including high-ranking Austrian and European politicians and decision makers and tell them your story (in English)?
Then we invite you to apply to take part in our Closing Discussion of the Alpbach Perspectives during this year’s European Forum Alpbach, on August 21, 2013! Experience the intellectually challenging atmosphere of the conference, enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Austrian mountain village Alpbach and contribute to an important discussion on Europe’s future by presenting your personal story.
Apply for a seat on stage and send us a short paragraph about yourself as well as a piece of art or a short story (1-3 pages) or a statement or a video (max. 3 minutes) or any other creative input detailing your story and how it relates to European realities by May 10, 2013! Your contribution should focus on your personal story and your vision for Europe.
The most promising applicants aged between 18 and 30 will be invited to the Closing Discussion of the Alpbach Perspectives on the topic “The Future of Europe: A Grassroots Perspective”, which will take place on August 21, 2013, from 10 am to 12 pm. The Alpbach Perspectives at the European Forum Alpbach
Every summer since 1945, the European Forum Alpbach has been taking place in the mountain village Alpbach in the Tyrol (Austria). In 2012, more than 4000 participants from over 60 countries attended the European Forum Alpbach, Austria in order to experience high-ranking speakers from the fields of science, economy, politics and the arts. The Alpbach Perspectives are one out of several Symposia taking place during the three weeks of the Forum. In 2013, the Alpbach Perspectives will tackle one of the most pressuring challenges of our time and deal with the future of Europe and the development of a more sustainable social and economic model. The theme will be “European Union: With or Without You?”. The above mentioned Closing Discussion will shed light on topics such as youth unemployment, austerity measures and the rise of nationalistic feelings to be observed all over Europe.
