
The Young European Council is an immersive international conference which brings together young people from all around Europe to discuss and practice European politics. Five days of negotiation, discussions with EU policy-makers (e.g. ambassadors, MEPs) and social events, under the patronage of the European Parliament. Interested? The YEC conference takes place in Brussels from November 7th to November 11th. Its aim is to foster the inclusion of young voices in contemporary EU policy-making. Heads of state and national delegates are represented in four different structures:
- The Heads of State and Government Council
- The Council for Gender Equality and Social Inclusion
- The Council for Security and Home Affairs
- The Council for External Affairs and Development Aid
In addition to formal negotiations within these Councils, the YEC involves many interaction with senior EU experts and decision makers, including two Eat and Meet events. This year, senior EU figures include Ms Kristalina Georgieva (Vice-Present of the Commission and Commissioner for Budget and Human Resources), Mr George Dassis (Present of the European Economic and Social Committee) and Ms Dagmar Schumacher (Director for UN Women in Brussels), and Mr Brando Benifei (MEP, Social Democrats), among many others.
